Bachelor Programme

BSc Data Science - MH207

Taught jointly by Mathematics and Statistics and Computer Science, this degree is about collecting, managing, analysing and visualising data and understanding what it shows. First year combines dedicated data science modules with programming, calculus and linear algebra, plus engineering science or extra computer science. Second year adds statistics, R, databases, and algorithms and data structures; third year covers probability, linear models, time series, data visualisation, networks and software engineering; and final year includes statistical machine learning, advanced R, Bayesian data analysis and options such as neural networks and AI, with two capstone projects. Unlike many Maynooth degrees, MH207 does not include a work placement or study abroad option.
