Bachelor Programme

BSc Psychology (through Science) - MH209

This science-based psychology degree is accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI), the first step towards professional training as a psychologist. In first year you take psychology, mathematics and one other science (biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering science or experimental physics), and from second year psychology is your single major. The course covers brain and behaviour, social, cognitive and developmental psychology, and research methods such as experimentation, measurement and statistical analysis. In third year you spend one semester on a research internship and can spend another on work placement or studying abroad (subject to availability). It is one of Maynooth's most competitive degrees, with only 23 places.
